Lidl - Conceptual drawing

Lidl’s newest and Finland’s third distribution centre will be completed next to the Lahti motorway. The distribution centre is estimated to handle a daily average of one hundred trucks throughout the year, and is a nationally significant project for Lidl as well as a key player in the expansion of Lidl’s store network. As an investment, it is significant and amounts to 100 million euros. Once completed in late 2018, the distribution centre with its floor area of 60,000 m2 will employ approximately 300 trade and logistics professionals.

In the construction of the Järvenpää distribution centre, special attention will be paid to environmental aspects. The aim is to build the most environmentally-friendly convenience goods distribution centre in the Nordic countries and apply for BREEAM environmental certification for sustainable construction. An ambitious Excellent level is being aimed at in the certification, and this has guided the design, construction and operation of the building.

Stravent will supply 18 IndAC2 air curtain machines for exterior and interior doors to the Järvenpää logistics centre. The air curtains will be installed in summer-autumn 2018.

The air curtains are connected to the ModBus and controlled according to the changing outdoor temperature, so that energy loss to the environment is minimised. The Biddle air curtain prevents moisture from entering the cold rooms, while reducing energy escape from the building, minimising traction in the vicinity of the door and saving operating costs. These are significant reasons, based on careful consideration and calculations, for choosing Biddle air curtains.
